Confessions Of A Bookaholic: Guilty Pleasure Edition #22 – Sweet Valley High’s Sixth Super Edition And Book #35

Are you ready for the last Super Edition in more than 100 books? Yep, no lie, the series doesn’t have another Super Edition for that long (no worries though, Super Thrillers, Super Stars and Magna Editions make up for it). All right, enough yammering (I kind of just wanted to use that word) and let’s get this party started. 😉

Confessions Of A Bookaholic: Guilty Pleasure Edition #21 – 99 Fear Street –The House Of Evil

I am thrilled to present what is probably my favorite Fear Street trilogy of the entire series: 99 Fear Street! It really is the house of evil…

Long ago, Simon and Angelica Fear had a secret graveyard in the woods near their mansion, where they buried the victims of their evil. The graveyard was undisturbed for several years, even as Fear Street was paved and homes were built around it, it remained an empty wooded lot, untouched for 100 years. But then the lot was cleared and a house was built. The evil seeped into the floorboards and walls of the house… the address is 99 Fear Street.

*This probably goes without saying, but just in case. There are spoilers starting in the first book. Since this is a trilogy each book builds on the other. You have been warned! 😉

“The First Horror”

Fear Street Scale: 5 out of 5 Fears
Pick Of The Bunch Rating: First Place

Twin sisters Cally and Kody Frasier are not exactly thrilled when their family moves to Fear Street. They have heard the strange and terrible stories about the street. What they don’t know, however, is that they have moved into the one house that even their neighbors on Fear Street refuse to enter – 99 Fear Street. The house has stood empty for the past thirty years under mysterious circumstances and has never been lived in. But now they must learn the secrets of 99 Fear Street or they will become the next victims of the house of evil!

Naked…

Can I tell you a secret? Well, I guess I am going to anyway; I am not good at being naked. I attended a writing workshop in Big Sur last week, and they had these hot springs I very much wanted to try. I have never taken a dip in any hot springs before and the atmosphere was just right. A friend I made at the workshop, took me down to the baths (where the springs were) to check them out. We had all been told the springs were clothing optional, but to me that meant that it was an option.

As soon as I rounded the corner inside a building I was faced with four naked bodies changing and before I could look down there was a butt, then another butt, some breasts and a few front parts. I know my reaction may seem extreme, I am an adult after all, but I didn’t know I was walking into a changing area that would be full of naked bodies, when I would be fully clothed (as in layers). I mean forget my potentially juvenile insecurities with nudity, but if you were in a room full of naked people, fully clothed without the intention of getting undressed (or even taking off your jacket), wouldn’t you feel like a creeper? I was so shocked, I didn’t think it then, but be sure on my way out I was thinking, oh God do these people think I’m a pervert or something?

Confessions Of A Bookaholic: Guilty Pleasure Edition #20 – Sweet Valley High Books 33-34

Here are two books where the twins kind of take the backseat while their friends take their turns in the spotlight. This is still a list you can’t miss though because there is a new addition to the Wakefield family and he is introduced in one of these books! 🙂

Confessions Of A Bookaholic: Guilty Pleasure Edition #19 – Sweet Valley High’s Fifth Super Edition And Book #32

This Sweet Valley High list shows some new faces (in one book literally) of Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield. I’m not sure they’re more likeable, but they at least there is some dissension in the ranks when it comes to the lack of character development in Sweet Valley. I guess any change is good, right? You’ll have to read on and let me know what you think.

“The New Jessica”

svh_the_new_jessica

Sweet Valley Scale: 4.5 out of 5 Twins
Pick Of The Bunch Rating: First Place

Jessica Wakefield is sick of being an identical twin. Her parents make jokes about it and people at school keep mistaking her for her sister, Elizabeth. Jessica is determined to make sure no one mixes up her and her twin ever again and decides to create a new Jessica. She gets a complete makeover and dyes her hair black, and then starts to wear outrageous clothes from European fashion magazines. Immediately, everyone at Sweet Valley High is talking about the new, sophisticated Jessica Wakefield. There is one person who isn’t thrilled with Jessica’s transformation, however. Elizabeth feels as though she has lost her twin sister forever. Is the old Jessica really gone for good?
